The Bucs confirmed today what was feared and speculated after yesterday’s loss to the Cowboys. Defensive end Adrian Clayborn will be out for the remainder of the season after tearing ligaments in his right knee after his leg got caught between an offensive lineman and a Tony Romo sack.
Though not specified, Clayborn may have injured multiple ligaments on Sunday. Multiple reports say both the MCL and ACL are involved after head coach Greg Schiano stated today it could be “more than one.”
The Bucs are already missing Da’Quan Bowers at defensive end due to his torn Achilles tendon which has his on the PUP list until week six. With Adrian Clayborn and Da’Quan Bowers out, the Bucs currently have Michael Bennett, Daniel Te’o-Nesheim, and George Johnson at defensive end. Linebacker Dekoda Watson has lined up as an edge rusher in certain defensive packages so they can have him in the position occasionally.
Greg Schiano stated the team will look internally and externally for help at the position.
