Bucs planning to tryout a few at right guard

Since the injury to right guard Davin Joseph in the preseason, the offensive line has under-performed. This week, the Bucs are planning to tryout a few names at the position in an attempt to have the best players on the field.

Head coach Greg Schiano stated the team is considering a number of options at right guard. While Ted Larsen is still listed as number one on the team’s depth chart, the Bucs were going to give right tackle Jeremy Trueblood a look at right guard but he came down with an illness. Other names mentioned in the mix for the position include Cody Wallace and Jamon Meredith.

The loss to Davin Joseph has been crucial to the Bucs’ plans. Schiano has made it known the new look Buccaneers will be a hard-nosed running team but that has not been the case. Tampa Bay has averaged 91 yards per game on the ground and are currently ranked 23rd in the league.

Since thet offseason, the coaching staff has always made an attempt to place the best eleven guys on the field on both sides of the ball. The tryouts at right guard show the staff’s commitment to continuing that trend.
