A Lovie Smith hiring may have been in the works

Once Greg Schiano and general manager Mark Dominik were fired on Monday, reports began tying former Buc assistant Lovie Smith to the team to fill the head coaching vacancy. Smith has been dubbed as a favorite and rightfully so.

Late Monday evening, I sent out a series of tweets that may help shed some more light on the situation which includes some things TBC learned yesterday afternoon. Here they are:

TBC also learned this morning that Smith just recently purchased a home in the bay area according to a source with knowledge of the situation. The same source also stated the Smith hiring may come sometime in the next 48 hours if all the pieces line up.

Perhaps the Glazers already had their minds made up a while back. But Smith is a hot name this offseason so the team has to move in fast if they want to make him the next Bucs coach.

If so then they need to try and bring in Whisenhunt to be the OC and assistant HC. We will need a good OC if this is going to work.

Rumor is former Cal Hc, Jeff Tedford, is following lovie wherever he goes, to be the OC.

Need to do it sooner than later……Danny Synder is throwing mad money around in DC! Tampa Bay badly needs a winning coach to “build” a perennial winning team here….
