It’s an ongoing debate and discussion across fan sites like SB Nation, on the radio and social networking platforms: Mike Glennon should or should not be the Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback. Some will even say that he shouldn’t be on the roster. But if you speak to head coach Lovie Smith or General Manager Jason Licht, they feel he deserves to lead the team in the future.
There are many that were disappointed in Smith’s comments about Glennon being “the quarterback of their future” over the weekend. The new regime has seen lots of what they need to see to be convinced that Glennon will soon be their guy and even turned down requests for a trade of the draft weekend.
Smith and Licht both see something others don’t. In fact, Smith stated Tuesday morning while on The Sports Page on 620 WDAE (and elsewhere) that if you are not at One Buc Place, you don’t see what they see in Glennon as well as in other players.
That is the reason why Smith says they have “a lot of faith” on Glennon and his future which is why they didn’t see the need to have “three good quarterbacks” on the roster.
For the full audio of Smith talking about Glennon as well as why they passed on Johnny Manziel in the draft, listen to the audio below courtesy of 620 WDAE.
