The Tampa Bay Buccaneers announced today the signing of 2014 NFL Draft selection Austin Seferian-Jenkins.
Seferian-Jenkins (6-5, 262) was selected in the second round (38th overall) from the University of Washington, where he started 35-of-38 career games, including each of the last 28 he played, recording 146 receptions for 1,840 yards and 21 touchdowns. Despite declaring for the NFL Draft as an underclassman, he owns the top career marks in receptions, receiving touchdowns and receiving yards by a Huskies tight end. In his final year at Washington, Seferian-Jenkins won the John Mackey Award, given annually to the nation’s top collegiate tight end.
A native of Fox Island, Washington, Seferian-Jenkins attended Gig Harbor High School, where he was a five-star recruit and one of the top prep tight ends in the country. Following his senior season, he was selected to multiple All-American teams.
The team also announced the signing of free agent wide receiver David Gettis.
Gettis (6-3, 220) – who participated in the Buccaneers mini-camp on a tryout basis – originally entered the league as a sixth round draft pick (198th overall) in the 2010 NFL Draft by the Carolina Panthers. He spent three seasons with Carolina, starting 13-of-17 games, recording 37 receptions for 508 yards and three touchdowns. He was placed on injured reserve prior to the 2013 season.
