By now, you all should know how long the Bucs have been after Jameis Winston. If not through reading it right here on TheBayCave.com then Peter King’s latest on MMQB or on JoeBucsFan.com. Regardless, there was a consensus at some point and general manager Jason Licht revealed when that was.
There were lots of silly reports in the month of April like “Leaning towards Mariota” or “Bucs still considering Mariota” or “Bucs will pick Mariota” but all that was put to rest. Those reports were never true as Licht said there was a total agreement on the selection of Winston one month prior to the draft.
That timeline fits the information I received the evening of April 9 — which I then subliminally shared on Twitter.
Listen to Licht as he appeared on NFL Radio Monday and talked about how the selection of Winston became reality.
