Bucs’ Gerald McCoy is No. 63 on NFL’s Top 100

GMCBuccaneers veteran defensive tackle Gerald McCoy has become a well-respected player around the league. So much so that he has been voted by his peers as a Top 100 player each year since 2013.

Despite struggling with injuries and missing time throughout the 2015 season, McCoy registered 8.5 sacks and 34 tackles. His play earned him a spot on NFL Network’s Top 100 list at No. 63. He was 28th heading into last season.

“I’m not going to say what he does, but, they can’t stop it, Packers’ defensive tackle Mike Daniels said of McCoy. “It’s like, oh my goodness this guy is doing the exact same thing and they can’t stop him.”

There is optimism all around for the defense this year under new defensive coordinator Mike Smith, especially for McCoy under the new scheme. Although he has been unable to break double digit sacks in his career, the chances of him doing so this season are good. In fact, he should. That’ll land him another Pro Bowl and All-Pro designation and that could put him into the Top 20 if not better in next offseason’s Top 100.
