Bucs will do whatever they can do for Revis

New Bucs’ defensive coordinator Leslie Frazier was introduced to the media Wednesday afternoon and among many things discussed about the defense, an All-Pro cornerback was also talked about.

Rumors started flying weeks back when head coach Greg Schiano was fired about the release of Revis looming. After current head coach Lovie Smith stated he was excited to work with his star cornerback. Frazier also echoed those statements, saying every defensive system has a place for a player as great as Revis.

“Darrelle Revis is a great player in our league, a great corner,” Frazier said. “He has been for a number of years now and as I mentioned I had a chance to watch some common opponents in season, some Tampa tape. He is a terrific player, without question. There’s always room in any system for great players. So we’re going to do all we can to maximize his talents and utilize his gifts. He’s going to be one of our key guys to our success. We’ll do whatever we [have to] do to maximize his talents. He’s a great player.”

Revis, who was selected to his fifth Pro Bowl, showed his greatness this past season even with not being at 100 percent. Although his stats do not reflect it, he was successful in eliminating his side of the field. That’s what the Bucs pay him to do. That’s why he will play a part in the Bucs defense.
