Round 1: Vernon Vernon Hargreaves, CB, University of Florida.
B+ Vernon is a very good pick. Only reason it isn’t an A is because we had a chance to get the best OL in the draft in Tunsil. Loved getting the 4th round pick by trading back. Vernon has already shown that confidence and he’ll make plays for a secondary that sorely needed it.
Round 2: Noah Spence, DE, Eastern Kentucky
A- Spence is a first round talent. He’s a huge steal in the 2nd. Denver Mortenson had him mocked to Tampa Bay in round 1. After taking a defensive back in the 1st round, the Buccaneers surely needed a defensive end. This pick was huge for Tampa Bay.
Round 2: Roberto Aguayo, K, Florida State.
B I love the Roberto pick. People are freaking out about us trading the 3rd and the 4th. Well, the 4th was a freebie from the Bears and the 3rd is where we were going to take Roberto anyways. Relax, Bucs fans! Our kicking game cost us the Houston game this year and kept us from being close in other games. Having a franchise quarterback and kicker worked pretty well for New England in the last decade.
B+. The Bucs got a Top 3 defensive back, a top 3 defensive end, and the most accurate kicker in college football history. All 3 are going to make an impact from day one. Great start to the draft for the Buccaneers. Can’t wait to see what Day 3 holds.
