Sights, sounds, and Marpet pushing McCoy around

Wednesday’s practice at One Buc Place included some of the usual goings on this week as the Bucs prepare for the Bengals on Monday night.

Rookie quarterback Jameis Winston showed good timing on deep throws with wide receivers but during 11-on-11’s he struggled a bit on a couple plays as he made a horrible decision on a pass which was picked off by D.J. Swearinger. But Winston excelled as well going through his progressions when he had to — like this pass that he hit tight end Austin Seferian-Jenkins in the flat.

In this following video — what many have asked about on Twitter — shows Ali Marpet (No. 74) driving and pushing back All-Pro defensive tackle Gerald McCoy (No. 93). This was not the only time this happened on Wednesday.

General Manager Jason Licht was observing practice, as usual.

Rookie left tackle Donovan Smith has been decent throughout camp. He does a good job here during drills.

After practice, I asked wide receiver Mike Evans if he and Winston are still working together outside of One Buc. “No. Not at all,” Evans said emphatically. He added that they are already there all day, each and every day — from morning to night.

Although Marpet is playing (practicing) lights out, he still needs to fulfill is rookie duties. Carrying the shoulder pads of veterans.
