Winston to miss OTA session

Oh boy. Let’s see the detractors pile on all over this headline, if they haven’t already.

Buccaneers rookie quarterback Jameis Winston will miss Thursday’s OTA session. No, not intentionally. But because he will be attending the NFLPA’s Rookie Premiere in Los Angeles. The four-day event runs through May 31.

For those unfamiliar with the event, here is a description of the event via the Players Association’s press release:

Throughout the first major business event following the NFL Draft, players will gain information to assist in the development of their professional careers and personal brands. The union’s annual orientation includes seminars focused on financial planning, brand building and group player rights. Among the guest speakers are former and active NFL players as well as NFLPA Executive Director DeMaurice Smith and NFL Players Inc. President Ahmad Nassar. NFLPA sponsors and licensees will be on site to capture player content for use during the season, host retail events and engage with rookies on a personal level during networking activities.

Winston is among several rookies attending the event including quarterback Marcus Mariota, defensive end Leonard Williams, wide receiver Amari Cooper, and running back Todd Gurley.

The first day the media would have gotten a chance to see Winston with the Bucs’ veterans would have been Thursday. Since the media will be viewing a Winston-less OTA, those of you looking for sights and sounds of Winston practicing can head over to Buccaneers.com for photos and videos from this week’s practices.

Oh, they will still find some negative behind this. Once they do theyll expose themselves as the "I don't really know what is going on" crowd.
